Garage Supervisor, Limerick
Purpose Day to day running of the garage, responsible for all aspects of fleet maintenance, provide support and assistance to garage staff & colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for Fleet Preventative Maintenance System (Docks), CVRT’s, Maintenance instructions (MI’s), in-Service Vehicle Breakdown Management of all vehicles including quality of work, planning, inspecting & recording of work done.
- Driver’s defects – collate, SAP input, analyse trends and address ongoing issues. Ensure defect booklets are available to driving staff.
- Staff Supervision; Craftworkers, Engineering Operatives, General Operatives, Apprentices & Contractors.
- Ensure all passenger & driver touch points are in full working order at all times, e.g. driver controls, destination signs, demisters, air conditioning, seating, vents, lighting etc. Raise awareness amongst all garage staff of impact of untidy/unclean work practices have on the end user (i.e. drivers & members of the public). Monitor Fleet cleanliness and address gaps with Engineering Operatives, General Operatives and Contract Cleaners.
- Carry out special projects as required – e.g. modifications, training etc.
- Identify, organise, facilitate & record all warranty work on vehicles. Complete or support completion of Warranty Claim Forms.
- Ensure safe systems of work and compliance with relevant legislation, risk assessments, SOP’s, emergency response plans etc. Have input into preparation of & deliver toolbox talks to all relevant staff at least once per period.
- Liaise with relevant personnel and service providers in relation to parts availability, vehicle repairs, daily garage operations, effective use of company vehicles, reducing VOR to a minimum.
- Accurately Report Vehicle Off Road on Microsoft SharePoint daily before 09:30am.
- Ability to use a wide variety of repairs/parts/technical manuals/computer programmes to access information relative to the assigned duties, apply this information to the maintenance function, support & advise all maintenance staff.
- Ensure that craftworkers & apprentices are trained to the highest standards – supervise & assess apprentices. Attend training courses. Flag any training needs to Senior Manager Engineering.
- Ensure premises are kept to a high standard of cleanliness, order & hygiene. Follow up on action items from Housekeeping Audit & Environmental Inspections as directed. Take initiative where appropriate to address facility or plant and equipment issues.
- Understand procurement rules before engaging procurement of equipment or service.
- Full implementation of all company/trade union agreements incl. Change Program for Garage Supervisors 2020. Meet with management, trade unions, and staff as needed.
- Carry out workplace accident investigations & submit reports.
- Assist with reports, details for staff disciplinary issues. Full understanding of all Human Resource Policy required.
- Liaise with Local Offices, Service Supervisors, Drivers, PTSBD, Contractors, Garages & other relevant personnel. Maintain regular contact with Maintenance Manager, Technical office, Stores, other foremen, other maintenance locations to ensure a proficient communication system. Attend Manufacturers service meetings if required.
- Perform functions of Stores Controller in absence of Stores Controller availability
- Any other ad-hoc tasks as directed by Senior Manager Engineering.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong technical knowledge of buses/coaches
- IT skills i.e. knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, SAP
- Knowledge of diagnostic systems and online vehicle service information systems
